Have you ever been introduced to a friend of a friend, & they just automatically rubbed you the wrong way? Even though they were outwardly pleasant to you, or didn't say very much, you still had a bad feeling about them?
From my own experience, I can tell you that these feelings are not to be ignored, honey! If you get a bad vibe from someone, sooner or later they will show you exactly WHY you felt that way.
But let's think about this...How do you make other people feel? Do you know?
Your energy field, or aura, is what either draws people to you or makes them stay away. The thing about energies is that their silent. You don’t have to say anything for someone else to feel your bad (or good) energy. Things like your smile (or lack thereof) or posture can make all the difference in how other people feel around you. Check yourself.
Everyone has that one friend who is always complaining, and takes every opportunity to point out what’s wrong in their life. There’s always something bad or strange happening to them, & instead of looking on the bright side, they tend to think the worst of every situation. Did you know that without even realizing it, their energy transfers to you, making you think about the negative things in your life too?
This person is what we like to call an “energy leech.”
An “energy leech" is anything (or person) that drains you of positive energy, or just makes you think, feel, or behave negatively. With that said, step number 1 to maintaining positivity is to create some distance between yourself & the energy leeches in your life. Negativity weighs you down & keeps you stagnant. We don't want that. So anyone who's polluting your space with negativity has to go in order for you to progress.
Now that we've changed the company we keep, here are some other ways to feel good, maintain a positive outlook, & pass it on:
Change your thoughts.
It starts with your mind. Start filling your mental & physical space with positive thoughts and things that make you happy. Meditate. Take a quick minute to just be still, relax, & think good thoughts.
Start writing in a “Dream Journal.” Write down good things that happen to you, things that made you feel good, your dreams & goals, anything. This is something great to look back on when you’re in a negative headspace. Boosts your spirits right up!
Read. Read self-help books, or something funny.
Do yoga/Exercise. Exercise releases endorphins, which trigger positive feelings.
Listen to good music. Listen to music with a positive message, “feel-good” music.
Laugh. Go see a funny movie.
Smile at people more. Something as simple as a warm smile emits positive energy that other people can feel.
Compliment a stranger. Making someone else feel good will make you feel good.
Stop giving your power away. Use your time, energy, & vitality wisely. Every time you choose to focus on a negative, you are depleting your reserves rather than re-charging your batteries.
Be kind to someone you dislike. This is difficult…very difficult. However, when you do something like this, you are showing the other person that you no longer give them the power to make you think or feel negatively toward them. You win.
Maintaining positivity is all about keeping your space and your mind in a good place. When you think good thoughts, take care of yourself & surround yourself with positivity, you will begin to soar. The right people will find you & the “energy leeches” will fade to black. The things that were going so wrong in your life before will turn around. You will begin to live a life that makes you happy, & really…that’s what we all want.
